Identity Theft by Gavin Mills
Identity Theft by Gavin Mills is a book which your author purchased online from Amazon.com.
The purchase of this book reminded me of some of the oddities of the internet. The book was purchased along with several others. However, on arrival, it is actually around twenty-five percent of the size of the others - but online it looked identical! This 'little' book is actually smaller than a CD case, to give you an idea of size.
The book only actually cost £3.99, which is a fair price.
Something else which came as a surprise, is that it is targetted specifically at readers in the UK. This was not mentioned in the description, which means that the book could be a little disappointing for non UK readers who failed to spot this detail. This isn't to say that residents of other countries cannot obtain some use from it, but the addresses of organisations discussed and referenced are all British.
As for the contents of Identity Theft by Gavin Mills, it is quite standard material. Hopefully, this will not seem too unkind, but similar amounts of information are freely available on many websites, including this one. In fact, many websites will have more information.
Before this review turns into a 'slating' it should be noted that this would be an ideal purchase perhaps as a gift or primer for someone wishing to take basic steps to protect themselves from Identity Theft or fraud.
There are better and more comprehensive publications available, but they aim to achieve more and cost more for the privilege. For example, Stealing Your Life by Frank Abagnale is an excellent book and covers virtually everything that a person might ever wish to know about this subject - but it is priced and targetted differently.
